1 Peter 5:7

Posted by: gina in Blog

1 peter 5:7 says "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
What joy and peace!  How big are the burdens we try to bear on our own?  When God's word tells us to "cast our cares on him" it is an invitation for us to lay down the burdens that are to us, in the words of Charles Spurgeon, "a staggering weight".
So many times I try and bear the burdens and cares of this world.  And then I wonder, where has my peace gone?  Where is my joy?  Then I remember...God has made this promise to His children!  We do not need to live cast down in our suffering.  We do not need to sit in despair, but again as Charles Spurgeon says "Lie passive in God's hands, And know no will but His."  Hope on, hope ever!!
When I am living in the will of my Lord Jesus, I know that is where I will find the peace and joy that He has promised!  I pray for all who read this that the peace of God will live in your heart today.  That we can live victorious!

Hope

Romans 15:13
"Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost."
One of my favorite verses!  I cling to these words when I feel that my efforts are small and not making a difference or when I feel that there is nothing I can do to help, change or have victory through a situation.
Believing God (not just believing in Him...but believing Him) fills me with joy and peace.  Believing God allows me to have hope through the power of His spirit - not my power!  When I feel like I can't do any more, it is typically because I am trying to accomplish something in my own strength and that is when I am again reminded that I need the strength of my Lord to get me through the day.
God's grace is sufficient...abound in hope today!

Giving Thanks

Posted by: gina in Blog

As most in our Country probably did, yesterday we gathered together with our family to observe Thanksgiving.  Traditionally, in my husband's family, this is the one holiday that our entire family tries to attend.  Although I haven't heard the final word on head count, it is rumored that yesterday we had between 114-125 family members along with additional friends for Thanksgiving dinner at my Mother and Father in-law's house!
The day is obviously filled with lots of fun, food, napping, football and games for everyone to play at their leisure.  But, the best part of the day for me is just the blessing of being a part of a family who loves the Lord, sings praises to Him, loves each other and has a legacy of love that I pray will continue through the next generations.
I also recognize that this time of year is very difficult for many as they have lost loved ones, may be going through difficult times or may not have family living close to celebrate with.  As I was talking with some of my sister-in-laws yesterday, we all agreed...it is not difficult at all to find those who are hurting.  If I just simply look, I will see them...there are people hurting everywhere that I go.  In our work places, in our communities, in our churches, in the stores we shop in...even in our own families.
So I pray to be more aware, more able and more willing by God's grace to do His work each day.
Psalm 30:12 "To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever."

More blessed to give

Posted by: gina in Blog

What a great evening I had with my team last Friday evening!  We had the honor and privilege of spending time at the Twinsburg Community Center helping serve Thanksgiving dinner to about 180 senior citizens.  It was a blessing to be able to serve with my team and give back a little bit to the great community that supports us.
Many of those at the dinner thanked us for serving them.  I have to say that it is us who want to say thank you for the service they have given.  To their families, communities, country and their churches.  It was a great opportunity to reinforce what we all probably know in our hearts already.... "It is more blessed to give than to receive" Our heartfelt thanks to Laura and everyone over at The Community Center for allowing us to be a part of it! Acts 20:35
"I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Grateful

Posted by: gina in Blog

I want to take a moment tonight and express my overwhelming gratitude for the team at laus Deo!
Right now I am sitting on the couch in the reception area of the salon.  It's a nice view that I don't often get to sit and enjoy.  Today has been a long day...but a great day!  When I think back on everything that has taken place since the day began at 9am this morning, it might have been a week ago!  There are always challenges in every day and today was no exception.  It's how we respond as a team to these challenges that will ultimately determine our results and our commitment to each other. As I say goodbye one by one to each of my team members tonight, I have to admit that I am getting a little choked up!
I am sometimes overwhelmed at this team that God has assembled together.  I have never before in my career had the honor, privilege and joy of working with such a dedicated and passionate group of individuals.  My guests often ask me..."How do you find your team?"  My answer is always the same.  "I pray."  This is God's team.  Assembled by Him.  I have the humble privilege of leading an amazing group of people to what we all hope will ultimately fulfill the purpose God sets before us and bring Him glory.
I am ever grateful for each one here!  Thank you Team!

Prayer

Posted by: gina in Blog

This morning on my ride into work I was just blown away by the beauty of Fall.  Today is one of those days that we wait all year for in Northeast Ohio!  I know Winter is coming soon (we had our first snow yesterday!) but for now, I am content to enjoy this amazing day.  This week I have been contemplating the amazing miracle of prayer.  It is pretty remarkable that God hears our prayers - and answers them!  I know it might not always be the answer I am looking for, but He is faithful to answer and bring me through whatever I am facing.  There are days like today when I can see the promise of prayers being answered.  It is not  that my prayers hold power on their own...it is the faithfulness of a gracious and merciful Lord to answer them.
Psalm 66:19-20 "But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me."

Courage

Today I just want to say that I am honored in my profession to see so many courageous women.  (Sorry guys...it's not that you're not brave too - but these women are amazing!)
Ladies...I think you know who you are.  Stay strong in the Lord and He will give you the victory!
I am humbled and amazed at your courageous spirit.  Your spirit that won't give up.  Your spirit that pushes through the tough stuff in order to obtain the victory on the other side.  And at the same time caring for your families, work, friends and so many other responsibilities.
Courage is your willingness to go through the fear, hurt, frustration and sacrifice in order to claim the victory and God's blessing.  Don't give up.  Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

humbled

Posted by: gina in Blog

Have you ever had a day when words are not sufficient enough to express your thoughts?  Today is one of those days for me!  The one word that continues to come up for me today is humbled.

There is opportunity everyday in big or small ways to somehow make a positive difference for someone.  If that is true, it also stands to reason that there is  opportunity to make a negative difference for someone each day. This is a large responsibility!  It causes me to wonder.  How many times have I unintentionally impacted someone negatively simply because I chose to be unaware or I didn't feel like caring in that moment?
Today I am humbled by this thought and I pray for greater awareness to recognize how I can make a positive difference in someone's life today!

In the wait

Posted by: gina in Blog

Today my daughter and I had a great conversation about the times in our lives when we are "waiting".  Sometimes we wait in anticipation of something good like a vacation, birthday or getting a new pet.  In the waiting we can learn patience and sacrifice as we choose how we  spend our time and money to get us closer to our goal.  We also talked about times when we are seeking an answer through prayer - and God answers by saying "Wait."  It's almost easier to have a "No" than a "Wait".  We both agreed that this is a difficult test of faith!  But, when we wait faithfully with patience, it is an opportunity that ultimately holds great reward.  There is victory on the other side of  the "waiting period" when we willingly submit to staying in the battle.  There have been times in the past when I have grown weary in the wait and given up.  I have to wonder what blessings and victories I have missed by giving up in the middle of the battle!
Don't give up!  Hold fast to your goals, dreams and prayers!
Psalm 27:14
New King James Version (NKJV)
 14 Wait on the LORD;
         Be of good courage,
      And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!

"Just Have Faith!"

Posted by: gina in Blog

If you are reading this than it is a guarantee that you have had difficulties in your life.  None of us have a life that is trouble free.  During trials, has anyone ever said to you "Just have faith!"?  My guess is that most of us have heard or said these words to encourage one another.  But where does that faith come from?  What do we place our faith in?
Psalm 145:13 says "The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made."
This verse is a great reminder to me that God is faithful!  Because He is loving and true to His word, we have the assurance and certainty to be able to say "Just have faith!".
